Is Deshaun Watson destined to leave the Lone Star State?
On Tuesday, the same day Watson reportedly jetted off to celebrate girlfriend Jilly Anais‘ 25th birthday, the 6-foot-2 quarterback shared a cryptic message on Twitter in the evening, which has since been deleted.
“Some things never change….,” the message read.
The Houston Chronicle speculated two potential possibilities about the tweet’s meaning: the controversial hire, and Tuesday’s decision that the Wisconsin cop who shot Jacob Blake will not face criminal charges.
Watson, the 12th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Texans in September, when head coach and GM Bill O’Brien still at the helm. O’Brien was fired in early October.
On Thursday, reports emerged that Watson “quietly broached with teammates the possibility of requesting a trade,” according to Pro Football Talk.
NFL analyst Benjamin Allbright of Denver’s KOA News Radio weighed in on trade speculation Thursday, noting a hypothetical bounty it would take to incite a discussion.
“Texans aren’t trading Watson, nor has that been discussed. I asked for a hypothetical offer that might move him last night,” Allbright tweeted, adding: “Three 1sts, three 2nds and a player might start the conversation.”
Anais, who celebrated her one-year dating anniversary with Watson in July, posted photos Wednesday from her birthday celebration. She also shared a collection of snapshots on her Instagram story, which Watson also re-posted.
Last weekend, Watson posted a birthday tribute to his favorite fan.
“Happy 25th Birthday Queen! Blessings to be on this Journey with you and see my bestfriend grow everyday! Rockin’ with you to the end! 💛🤞🏾 Enjoy yo day Luv & know it only gets better from here! Big Dawg shii shorty! 💪🏾💯,” he wrote Saturday on Instagram.
